EU-CHINA BRIDGE Contributes to Zero Carbon Industry 2026 in Rome

EU-CHINA BRIDGE actively contributed to Zero Carbon Industry 2026, held in Rome on 4–5 February 2026, engaging with leading European experts and stakeholders on the future of industrial decarbonisation and competitiveness.

During the conference, project partners presented key results that mark important progress in the development of the project’s industrial transition pathways.

Key Contributions

Georg Holtz (Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy) presented a comprehensive inventory of low-emission technology options for the steel and chemicals sectors, providing a structured overview of available and emerging solutions.

Charlotte Hullmann (Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy) shared insights from the project’s in-depth assessment of chemical recycling and its role in enabling industrial transformation.

Sonja Sechi (E3-Modelling Energy-Economy-Environment) presented the first modelling results outlining pathways for decarbonising China’s steel sector, contributing to the project’s comparative EU-China perspective.

These outputs represent significant milestones in the development of the steel and chemical technology roadmaps and the broader net-zero pathway modelling activities under EU-CHINA BRIDGE.
